I’ve been nominated for a Blogger Recognition Award thanks to the lovely Alana at Burnished Chaos!
Alana nominated me back in May and I was so happy to be thought of to receive the (virtual) award. As part of the award I am required to tell you all how I started my blog and pass on some advice to any new bloggers (as if I’m an expert!). It’s then my turn to nominate…!
How emmaology All Began
I was on maternity leave, I had a small baby, I thought it would be a great idea to add the task of blogging to the task of being a mum. It can’t be that hard, right?! But seriously, I thought blogging would be a great way to keep memories of Oliver and Grace when they were young, as well as helping me clear my mind. I enjoy it, I wish I had done it earlier though so I had more posts about Oliver when he was younger, I’m currently skewed in Grace’s favour!
My Advice to New Bloggers
As I said earlier, I’m no expert. I’ve only been blogging since November and I’m definitely not as successful as some other bloggers I’ve met but here goes.
My number one piece of advice is something I know a lot of people will have said. Write what you know and love. If you have a topic you’re really passionate about, whether it’s your family, fashion, crafts or cooking, write about that. The main thing is to write posts that you like, if you like them then others will too. I made the mistake of trying to write about too many topics and I lost focus.
My second piece of advice is to read other blogs. Reading other blogs can not only give you inspiration for post topics for yourself but it can help you find really useful blogging contacts who could easily turn into friends. I have found a great group of bloggers who I have contact with almost daily and we all know we can ask each other all kinds of questions (blog related or not!).
The Blogger Recognition Award: My Nominations
If you’ve already been nominated, sorry for doing it again. I guess it shows how well thought of you are! If not, and you want to take part here are the rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Choose up to 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
- Let each blog know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
Congratulations everyone, I can’t wait to read your posts!
