Parenting Solo – Help Me!

Parenting Solo

It’s been quite some time since I have had to solo parent for a long period. That is, until now. This morning we dropped my husband at the airport for him to make his way to Germany. Now I know what you’re thinking, lucky thing getting a trip away over half term, but no. He’s away with work, training until Friday.
I think I am being a bit melodramatic, but this is not only the longest amount of time him and I have been apart, it’s also the longest amount of time he’s been away from Grace (Oliver too if we forget about our honeymoon…). Equally, it’s the longest amount of time I’ll have had to be in charge of two children. Argh!

The daytimes? Those shouldn’t be too bad. I have made a few plans to keep us entertained as I do most school holidays, but it’s the tea time and bed time which I think will be the killer. I have no tag team partner to occupy one child while I do something for the other! This week will be a true test of my organisational skills. How do I get Grace to eat anything? How do I get our tea prepared? Do I just order pizza every night? These are the questions I have unanswered in my head!

Today I have had the pleasure of two friends, one who we met for lunch at a great little café which has not only tasty food but toys for little ones to play with, and another who invited all three of us for tea! She even still let us come over after realising how fussy I am!

What’s Next?

I’ll report back and let you know how it goes, but do you have any tips on how to organise myself and make this solo parent adventure a success?

UPDATE: Check out how it all went!
